Venezia FC Women were defeated by Bologna Women in the First Round of the 2026/27 Coppa Italia Women. The match, played at 11:00 at the Ca’ Venezia Sports Centre, was decided by Lahteenmaki’s 18th-minute goal. Despite the result, Head Coach Gian Luca Petruzzelli can take several positive indications from the game as the team looks ahead to the rest of the season.

The first chance of the match fell to the arancioneroverdi in the 7th minute, when Ballo attempted a first-time effort from the edge of the box, but her shot went wide of Pasar’s goal. Bologna took the lead in the 18th minute through Lahteenmaki, who met a cross from the right inside the box with a header and beat Scotti. Scotti then produced a couple of important saves to deny Bologna a second goal. Towards the end of the first half, Venezia responded: Vergari delivered a cross from the left towards Volpatti, who made a good run towards the near post but was beaten to the ball at the last moment. The teams went into the break with Bologna leading 1-0.

The Leonesse started the second half with the right attitude and came close to equalising three times in the opening ten minutes. First, Marchiori headed just wide from a corner, before substitute Coda narrowly failed to connect with a dangerous ball. Shortly afterwards, Mazis tried a first-time effort that was saved by Posar. Petruzzelli’s side continued to push forward and came close to finding an equaliser again, particularly through Coda. However, the equalising goal never came, and the match ended 0-1.
The arancioneroverdi will return to action on Wednesday, 23 September, against Brescia Femminile in the rearranged matchday one fixture of the 2026/27 Serie B Women’s Championship.
