Giovanni Stroppa's Press Conference

Two days ahead of the match against Atalanta, valid for Matchday 6 of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive season, head coach Giovanni Stroppa previewed the game during a press conference. The match is scheduled for Monday, 12 October, at 6:30 pm at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo.

Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach.
“The international break gave us the opportunity to welcome back several players, which is certainly excellent news. Their return allowed us, particularly over the past week, to work really well. Our work over these weeks has focused on consolidating and improving what we were already doing. The friendly matches, especially the one in Croatia, also gave us the opportunity to rotate the squad, assess all the players and help those who have had less playing time in the opening matches build their confidence and self-belief. Overall, it was an excellent break. We have strengthened our mentality, and there are plenty of positives for us to build on.

We will approach the match against Atalanta with our own identity, which has never been lacking. In fact, even in the game against Lazio, we demonstrated significant improvement in this respect. Of course, we still need to iron out our mistakes, both in terms of preventing goals and being more clinical in front of goal. We are satisfied with our performances, and that satisfaction is shared by the players, not just by me. Now we need to improve our numbers, which are crucial, and climb a league table in which we are not in the position our team deserves to be. On Monday, we will face a high-quality side whose position in the standings does not reflect the excellent performances they have delivered. We will need to work together as a team on key moments and details, because they have tremendous quality, including in their individual players.

I feel the confidence of both the team and the club every day. It is an invaluable sense of trust, which I also experience when I am out and about and talking to the fans. I see the team improving every day in terms of attitude and character, as well as technically, and this gives me even greater confidence. We are all disappointed with our position in the table, but the signs are encouraging, and we see positive responses every day. This extended break has given me the impression that the players are incredibly eager to get back on the pitch. Those who went away on international duty have also returned highly motivated".
