Giovanni Stroppa's Press Conference

On the eve of the clash with Lazio, in Matchday 5 of the 2026/27 Enilive Serie A season, Venezia FC head coach Giovanni Stroppa spoke to the press to preview Saturday’s fixture, which kicks off at 8:45 p.m. at the Penzo Stadium.

“It’s disappointing to see our position in the table considering the performances we’ve put in, but we continue to work, and we’re doing so in the best possible way. The team is training very well, so we’re moving forward with the right attitude and mindset. We’re going to face one of the most in-form teams in the league. They’ve made an excellent start to the season and are truly a top-level side, with some outstanding individual players as well.

Tomorrow, we’ll still be without some important players. We’re working to get a few players who are slightly behind in their recovery back into contention, but the team is training well and I’m sure we’ll put in a great performance. I don’t think you can fault these players for their commitment or for the performances they’ve delivered. We certainly need to improve and, above all, we need to start picking up points and move up the table. The stadium and the Curva have been behind us from the first minute to the 90th.

For me, this is a very competitive team, and our performances have shown that. We need to make the key moments go our way, and we want to take points from this game. For me, there’s only hard work and the trust I have in these players".
