Venezia FC Women Awarded at “B to Be” for Supporting the Venezia FC Powerchair Project
During the official “B to Be” event — the Serie B Women’s League awards ceremony held on Monday, May 25, at the Hall of Honor of the CONI — Venezia FC Femminile received an important recognition dedicated to social responsibility initiatives developed by clubs within their local communities.
Throughout the event, which celebrated the protagonists of the Serie B Women’s season through highlights, goals, and awards, special attention was also given to projects promoting inclusion, protection, respect, and the enhancement of local communities through football. In this context, the arancioneroverde club stood out thanks to the Venezia FC Powerchair project.
The award citation praised “the ability to demonstrate how a professional club can act as a pioneer for adapted sport within the Italian context, transforming inclusion from a statement of intent into a concrete and ongoing sporting commitment, serving as a best practice and a replicable model.”
Through the Venezia FC Powerchair project, the lagoon club became the first professional Italian club to enter the world of powerchair football, taking part in the inaugural Serie A National Championship during the 2021/22 season. The initiative was born from a collaboration with Polisportiva Terraglio and the Black Lions Venezia, a long-established organization committed to sport and social initiatives.
Through this project, Venezia FC promotes a genuine culture of inclusion every day and supports the spread of sporting opportunities for girls and boys with disabilities, in line with the social responsibility principles that guide the club. The initiative combines inclusion, development, and sporting success, creating a practical and replicable model at a national level.
During “B to Be,” the president of the Serie B Women’s Division, Laura Tinari, reaffirmed the importance of the social role played by clubs:
“With ‘B to Be’ we celebrated the sporting achievements of the clubs, while also focusing on the great values underpinning the social responsibility projects carried out by clubs in their communities: inclusion, protection, safety, and respect.”
This recognition confirms the value of the path undertaken by Venezia FC and the club’s daily commitment to making sport an increasingly open, accessible, and inclusive space.
