Michael Svoboda joins Brighton & Hove Albion FC

Venezia FC announces that it has reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion FC for the permanent transfer of defender Michael Svoboda.

Having joined the club ahead of the 2020/21 season, Svoboda leaves Venezia FC after making 138 appearances and scoring five goals, becoming one of the most recognisable figures in the club’s journey over recent years.

During his time in Venice, the Austrian defender played a part in all three of Venezia FC’s recent promotions to Serie A, as well as in the club’s two top-flight campaigns. Last season, which ended with the Arancioneroverdi’s return to Serie A, he wore the captain’s armband, leading the team throughout a campaign that culminated in the Serie B title.

With his commitment, selflessness, and deep connection to the Arancioneroverdi colours, Michael played a key role in some of the most significant chapters of Venezia FC’s recent history.
