A performance full of character and confidence from the Venezia FC Lionesses, who earned a point away to Brescia in the rearranged fixture from Matchday 1 of the 2026/27 Serie B Women’s Championship. At the Mario Rigamonti Sports Centre, the arancioneroverdi took on the hosts without fear, creating several scoring opportunities and controlling the game for long spells. Following the goalless draw against Moncalieri on the opening day, Gian Luca Petruzzelli’s side have now recorded back-to-back 0-0 draws in the league.
Venezia made a confident start and created the first chance of the game after just one minute. Coda delivered a cross from the right into the box, where Imprezzabile was narrowly beaten to the ball by the Brescia goalkeeper, who came off her line to prevent the close-range effort. The arancioneroverdi continued to push forward and came close again in the 9th minute: Zuanti was played through inside the box and found herself one-on-one with Pucova, but her effort went just wide. Venezia remained well organised and continued to play their football against an experienced Brescia side. Another chance came in the 37th minute, when Coda was found inside the box, but Pucova timed her intervention perfectly to get to the ball just before the Venezia forward. Towards the end of the half, Brescia attempted to respond and created their clearest opportunity of the match. A back pass towards Scotti was intercepted by the hosts, who tried to shoot towards goal, but Spinelli got in the way and her deflection sent the ball against the outside of the post. Venezia therefore went into the break at 0-0 after a first half played with composure, intensity and confidence.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Venezia determined to take their chances and show no fear. In the 5th minute, Spinelli led a counter-attack down the right and found Zuanti, who entered the box but was unable to get her shot away from a promising position. Brescia attempted to react, but the arancioneroverdi continued to threaten. In the 15th minute, Donda received the ball from distance and unleashed a powerful right-footed effort towards the far post, forcing Pucova to stretch and make the save. The Venezia Lionesses continued to create chances and, in the 27th minute, Coda had another good opportunity after being found by Volpatti on the left, but her effort was saved by the Brescia goalkeeper. Venezia increased the pressure in the closing stages. In the 39th minute, Pizzuti went directly for goal from a corner, forcing Pucova to make another save and turn the ball behind for another corner. From the resulting set piece, Pizzuti again attempted to find the target, but her effort was blocked. In the 42nd minute, Pasquali tried her luck from distance, but Scotti was alert to make the save. In the 45th minute, a fine piece of play from Pizzuti released Coda inside the box, but the Venezia forward was narrowly beaten to the ball before she could get her shot away. The final chance of the match fell to Brescia deep into stoppage time, as Cacciamali met a cross at the far post with a header that went just wide. After a final spell of intense action, the referee blew for full time: Brescia and Venezia FC finished 0-0.
A valuable point for the arancioneroverdi, who produced a strong and confident performance against a side such as Brescia. Venezia competed on level terms throughout the match, creating chances and showing solidity and quality in both phases of play. Another important step in the team’s development under Gian Luca Petruzzelli, with Venezia moving onto two points after their first two league matches.
