The Venezia FC Leonesse suffered a defeat against Cesena on Matchday 3 of the 2026/27 Serie B Women’s Championship. The hosts secured a 2-0 victory in the match, which kicked off at 3:00 PM at the Martorano Sports Centre (FC). Both goals came in the first half, as the Romagna side went into the break with a two-goal lead, while the Arancioneroverdi were unable to find the back of the net.
The match took shape after just 15 minutes, when Ciano received the ball from a throw-in and unleashed a long-range effort that flew into the top corner at the far post, putting Cesena 1-0 ahead. The hosts continued to threaten, with De Muri forcing a fine save from Scotti in the 28th minute. Two minutes later, the Leonesse came close through Spinelli, who, after a solo run down the right, delivered a cross into the box towards the near post. Captain Zuanti arrived to meet it and fired a powerful effort that narrowly missed the target. Five minutes later, Cesena doubled their lead after Pizzuti was penalised for a foul, resulting in a penalty which Santoro won and converted. In the 44th minute, the hosts were awarded another free kick just outside the box, but the effort went wide. The first half ended 2-0.
The Leonesse started the second half on the front foot, with Zuanti coming close with a fine effort from outside the box. Cesena responded immediately, however, as Ciano struck the crossbar from the edge of the area, narrowly missing out on a second goal. The Romagna side hit the woodwork again in the 71st minute, when Ciambini struck the post from inside the box. Late in the game, Cesena threatened once more through Ferin, but Scotti produced another excellent save to keep the scoreline unchanged. The match ended 2-0. The Leonesse will return to action on Sunday, October 4, when they face Bologna on Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 Serie B Women’s Championship.
