The Venezia FC Leonesse made their season debut in the 2026/27 Serie B Women’s Championship following the postponement of their opening-day fixture against Brescia Femminile. The game ended in a 0-0 draw against Moncalieri Women, in a well-played match by the orange-black-and-green side, featuring quick transitions and solid defensive play.

The Leonesse, coached by Gian Luca Petruzzelli, started strongly and found the back of the net in the 1st minute through a Coda header, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Moncalieri had a chance of their own in the 4th minute, as Girotto, the former player involved in the fixture, saw her header comfortably saved by Scotti. Venezia continued to push forward, with a fine combination between Coda and Spinelli in the 12th minute, but Milone denied the Leonesse the opening goal. Little else happened during the remainder of the first half, apart from a couple of efforts on goal that were comfortably dealt with by Scotti.

The Leonesse also started the second half strongly and came within inches of taking the lead in the 46th minute. Coda received the ball on the edge of the box, dribbled past an opponent and struck the post, with Zuanti arriving on the rebound but unable to find the back of the net. Moncalieri also threatened through efforts from Girotto and Tamburini, although neither troubled Scotti. Venezia then stepped up the pressure again and came close once more in the 76th minute: Pizzuti released Scherlizin through on goal, but the Moncalieri goalkeeper denied her the chance to score. The match therefore ended in a convincing 0-0 draw for the Lionesses in their season opener. Next Sunday, Venezia will be back in action in the Coppa Italia, hosting Bologna Women.
