The Venezia FC Lionesses suffered a defeat against Vicenza on matchday six of the 2026/27 Serie B Women’s Championship. In this afternoon’s match, played at 3:00 pm at the Ca’ Venezia Sports Centre, the visiting side came out on top. After taking the lead in the opening minutes through Ponte, Vicenza managed on several occasions to withstand the pressure from the orange-and-black side and take all three points home.

The home side started on the attack, but in effect conceded the goal that would decide the match with the first shot of the game. In the 4th minute, Ponte picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a shot that found the back of Scotti’s net to give Vicenza the lead. Venezia responded immediately with a dangerous effort from Zuanti, which was saved by Di Nallo. The Lionesses pushed forward again in the 12th minute with a well-taken corner from Cavicchia, but Zuanti was denied at the last moment by the opposition defence. Two minutes later, Petruzzelli’s side created another chance, this time through Volpatti, who collected a cross from Cavicchia and attempted a shot that was blocked by the opposing defence. Ballo got to the rebound but failed to hit the target. Ballo threatened again in the 27th minute with a header from a Cavicchia cross that went narrowly wide. In the 38th minute, the Lionesses created their biggest chance of the first half: following a fine passing move, the ball reached Imperiale, who unleashed a powerful long-range effort that struck the crossbar. The teams therefore went into the break with the visitors leading 1-0.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, with Venezia searching for an equaliser while the visiting side focused on protecting their lead. In the 4th minute, Imperiale tried again, but her effort was saved. A few minutes later, the orange-and-black side threatened once more, this time through Cavicchia, whose long-range shot was deflected out for a corner. In the 19th minute of the second half, Petruzzelli’s side created another opportunity as Salvi received the ball in the box and shot towards the near post, only to be denied an equaliser by an alert Di Nallo. Venezia continued to apply pressure, and in the 22nd minute Spinelli produced a fine individual run down the right, reaching the byline before setting up substitute Vergari, who narrowly failed to get her shot away. In the 24th minute, Pizzuti delivered a corner for Salvi, who headed towards the far post, but the opposition goalkeeper produced another excellent save to prevent the equaliser. The Lionesses refused to give up and continued attacking until the final minute of the four minutes of stoppage time, when Ballo headed from a Pizzuti free kick but failed to find the target. The match therefore ended 1-0 to Vicenza. The Lionesses will be back in action on Saturday, 31 October, at 2:00 pm away against Genoa.
