The post match of Genoa - Venezia

At the end of the match between Venezia FC and Genoa, part of the eighth matchday of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive Championship and which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Ligurian side, head coach Davide Nicola and midfielder Kike Perez shared their thoughts on the game.

Davide Nicola, Venezia FC head coach.
“The match leaves us feeling understandably quite angry, but we need to channel that anger. Today, even looking at the statistics, a draw would have left us dissatisfied, yet we actually lost. Our performance can be viewed from two different perspectives, but even in the first half we did not face any major risks; we conceded a great goal. In the second half, however, our play was more fluid, and I am convinced that with hard work we will achieve this level of fluidity consistently, because this team has all the tools it needs to express its potential. The team is naturally inclined to play football; we need to become obsessive about making the most of our chances. In the first half, we were particularly focused on not conceding, and this took something away from our fluidity in possession. We need to be able to combine these two approaches within the same match".

Kike Perez, Venezia FC midfielder.
“In the first half, we were more compact. They had one chance and scored a great goal, although we had the first opportunity of the match. In the second half, we stepped up a gear and created many chances, but unfortunately, we failed to score and lost the game. It is a difficult period, but the team has the right mentality, and I am convinced that the points will come with hard work".
