The post match of Udinese - Venezia
At the end of the match between Udinese and Venezia FC, played in the Round of 32 of the 2026/27 Frecciarossa Coppa Italia and ending in a 2-1 victory for the Friulian side, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò reflected on the defeat and the key aspects of the game.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach
“Today we had a lot of new players on the pitch, so it was natural for us to experience a drop in the second half. Despite that, after the break we still had three or four opportunities to put Udinese under pressure, although we also conceded some chances. It is frustrating to have played such a great first half and not taken advantage of our opportunities to go two goals ahead. As long as the team was physically able to maintain its level, we played a really good game, and I certainly have some additional answers after tonight’s match".
Lorenzo Montipò, Venezia FC goalkeeper
“It was a wonderful feeling to make my debut in this shirt and I am very happy about that, although I am disappointed with the final result, especially because we played an excellent first half in which we could have made more of our chances. In the second half, we dropped off slightly more physically than mentally, but we still tried to react and create opportunities. Given how the game unfolded, a draw would have been a fair result. I see a determined team that is eager to play the kind of football the coach is asking us to play, with the right attitude and mentality. We have a great club behind us with a fantastic project, and they are determined to remain in this division at all costs. We are working wholeheartedly towards that goal, and we also have the right experience to achieve it".
