The post match of Venezia-Lazio
At the end of the match between Venezia FC and Lazio, played on Matchday 5 of the 2026/27 Enilive Serie A season and ending in a 2-0 victory for the Lazio side, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and defender Juan Jesus shared their thoughts on the game at the Penzo.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach.
"There is a lot of disappointment and regret. From my perspective, I can say that I am proud of the players for the performance they put in, for their commitment, balance and ability to take the game to a team with great quality that is one of the protagonists of this league. The key moments made the difference. The penalty awarded to us could have changed the momentum of the game, which is what happened later with the penalty awarded to them. Even so, it did not affect our balance or our ability to create the conditions to look for an equaliser. It is disappointing to concede the two goals, but we will continue to work in the same way and, of course, we need to improve. Once again tonight, the players gave positive answers, both in terms of their performance and their character. This has to be the path forward. We managed to concede very little against such a strong team while creating so many chances, so now we need to recover our energy and get players back. Our fans have been exemplary, and I am very sorry because they deserve different results. I would like to thank everyone who came to the stadium, especially the Curva”.
Juan Jesus, Venezia FC defender.
“It was my first start at the Penzo, and I also had the captain’s armband on my arm. As captain today, I felt the responsibility and tried to do my very best. We had a good first half, created a lot of chances and we will certainly get out of this situation through hard work. It is definitely a difficult moment, but let’s remember that we are only on Matchday 5. This is a team that has changed a lot, but we are eager to learn, we are committed and we support one another. We are giving everything we have, the coach is giving everything he has, and now we will have a long break to work”.
