The post match of Venezia - Udinese

At the end of the match between Venezia FC and Udinese, valid for the eleventh matchday of the 2026/27 Enilive Serie A Championship and ending with a 2-1 victory for the Arancioneroverdi, head coach Davide Nicola and midfielder Simon Sohm shared their thoughts on the game.

Davide Nicola, Venezia FC head coach.
“It would be great to turn this stadium into a fortress, also for the fans who always give us tremendous support, but that will depend on us and on our development. At the same time, we will also need to pick up points away from home, but we are taking things one step at a time. The lads have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks, and this break will do us good, allowing us to recover both physically and mentally. Today’s match was difficult, also from an emotional standpoint, against an experienced and well-organised opponent, and we did well to achieve the result through our performance. In the first half-hour, I saw the courage I had asked for. I would like us to be a little more clinical, especially in the early stages of games, so that we can also shift the emotional balance in our favour. Then you score, concede an immediate equaliser and experience another few emotional ups and downs. Instead, we need to believe that the path we have set out on will pay off, regardless of any individual incident that may occur on the pitch. We must keep building, improve what we are doing and add further tactical solutions. We need to win with balance and find consistency in our results, always starting with our performances".

Simon Sohm, Venezia FC midfielder.
“I’m feeling really good working with coach Nicola. Even in our previous matches, despite not picking up any points, we had done some good things. Today, getting the result was important, and we showed that we are on the right track. We played as a team to win this match. We knew it wouldn’t be easy today and that we would have to stay focused for all ninety minutes. This result is also important mentally. We need to focus on working hard and keep moving forward on this path".
