Thierry Rendall Correia’s Press Conference
Following the victory over Modena in the Round of 32 of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, and three days before Venezia FC’s official debut in the 2026/27 Enilive Serie A season against Lecce, Venezia FC winger Thierry Rendall Correia spoke to the media about his arrival in Venice, his integration into coach Giovanni Stroppa’s squad, and previewed Sunday’s match at the Penzo, scheduled for August 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Thierry Rendall Correia, difensore Venezia FC.
“After seven years at Valencia, where I developed as a footballer, now here at Venezia my goal is to play a lot and I will work as hard as possible to do well. There is an important project, a top-level staff and a great league like Serie A to compete in; these were decisive factors in my choice to come here.
I really like Coach Stroppa’s idea of football and I think I will be able to showcase all my qualities. I can play both as a right-sided and left-sided wing-back, and I am completely at the coach’s disposal. In the past, I have played out wide both in four-man and five-man defensive systems, so I can really play in all positions. I have found a really united group; there is a fantastic atmosphere in the dressing room, and my teammates are also helping me a lot with the language.
The training sessions are very intense, I feel good physically as well and I want to train even harder to make sure I am always ready. I am really highly motivated to do well and to always be at my best, both mentally and physically. I have a strong work ethic and I hope to be an example for my younger teammates as well.
Now I am only thinking about doing well and giving everything for Venezia and, if we also do well as a team and not just individually, maybe I can start thinking about the national team too.
We definitely want to do well on Sunday against Lecce. Our objective is to have the same mentality that was passed down from last year, namely to go onto the pitch with the aim of winning every match. We are working very hard to arrive at the game in the best possible shape. During the week, Coach Stroppa showed us videos of the match against Modena so that we could understand where we can improve, and we are ready for our league debut. I am sure that in a very short time we will absorb the coach’s footballing ideas even more.”
