Venezia FC-Modena: Post Match

Following Venezia FC’s 3-2 victory over Modena in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Round of 64, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and forward Akor Adams shared their thoughts on the match.

Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC Head Coach
“For the opening 25 minutes, we were well organised, compact and aggressive, and we also dominated the individual duels. Then we began to struggle, the distances between our lines increased and we became a little disorganised. At half-time, I asked the players to regain our shape and keep things simple. We performed better in the second half and then did extremely well to respond and see the game through. There are certain things we need to improve, but we have everything we need to work on them and make progress. If we can remain organised, we have the physicality, tactical understanding and individual quality required to do well. The key will be improving our ball management and physical condition.”

Akor Adams, Venezia FC Forward
"I am happy to be here and to represent this club. It was a difficult start, even though we were in control of the game, but my goals then helped us secure the victory, which is what matters. We have a great deal to offer, and I am sure this will be a season we can enjoy. After speaking with sporting director Antonelli, I understood the importance of this project. We can build something great here, and we have an excellent coach and excellent teammates. Coach Stroppa always pushes us to do more. At this stage, it is important to understand what he expects from us, but I am confident that we will be able to develop the style of football he wants us to play. The Penzo is a stadium unlike any other in the world. I was very impressed by the supporters and also by the unique way you arrive here. I want to be a focal point for the team and always look to score.”
